Instructions

- Line a standard muffin tin with paper liners.
- Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
- Cream softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in vanilla extract until well combined.
- Alternate adding dry ingredients and buttermilk, starting and ending with dry.
- Fold in toasted pecans gently into the batter.
- Spoon batter into muffin cups, filling each two-thirds full.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool cupcakes in the tin for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- Prepare brown sugar frosting by beating butter and powdered sugar until sandy.
