Description

Onion Ring Chips – Crispy, Crunchy, and Totally Addictive

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large onions (yellow or sweet)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs or panko
  • Cooking oil (for frying or brushing if baking)
  • Optional Seasonings: Chili powder, Smoked paprika, Grated Parmesan-style cheese

Instructions

  1. Peel onions and slice very thin into rings. Separate rings and pat dry with paper towels.
  2. Set up three bowls: flour in one, beaten eggs in the second, and breadcrumbs mixed with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in the third.
  3. Dip each onion ring into flour, then egg, then breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to coat.
  4. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Place onion rings on a lined baking sheet and lightly brush or spray with oil.
  5. Bake 18–22 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crisp.
  6. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry onion rings in batches for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  7. Drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve immediately while hot and crunchy.
