Description

Homemade Figs Liqueur (Ficoncello) is a rich, velvety liqueur with a deep, complex flavor that’s perfect for sipping or adding to cocktails. This easy-to-make recipe captures the natural sweetness and aroma of fresh figs.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh figs, stems removed and quartered
  • 2 cups brandy
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise

Instructions

  1. In a large jar or bowl, combine the quartered figs, brandy, sugar, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and vanilla bean. Stir well to combine.
  2. Cover the jar and let the mixture steep for 4-6 weeks, stirring occasionally.
  3. Strain the liqueur through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible.
  4. Pour the strained liqueur into clean bottles or jars and seal. Store in a cool, dark place for up to 1 year.

Notes

  • Check the liqueur occasionally for flavor development.
  • Use quality figs for the best results.
