- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon butter
- Salt to taste

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- If using fresh broccoli, steam or blanch it until tender-crisp. If using frozen, thaw according to package directions.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour to create a roux.
- Gradually whisk in the milk until the sauce is smooth and slightly thickened.
- Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted. Season with salt and pepper.
- Add the broccoli to the cheese sauce and stir to coat.
- Pour the mixture into a small baking dish.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use a mix of cheddar and Gruyere cheese.
- Add a pinch of nutmeg to the cheese sauce for an extra layer of flavor.
- You can add a tablespoon of finely chopped onion or garlic to the sauce for more depth.
