Description

A simple and delicious vegetarian baked broccoli cheese dish, perfect as a side or a light meal. This vegetarian broccoli cheese bake is packed with flavor and is easy to prepare.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups broccoli florets, fresh or frozen
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. If using fresh broccoli, steam or blanch it until tender-crisp. If using frozen, thaw according to package directions.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour to create a roux.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk until the sauce is smooth and slightly thickened.
  5. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Add the broccoli to the cheese sauce and stir to coat.
  7. Pour the mixture into a small baking dish.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use a mix of cheddar and Gruyere cheese.
  • Add a pinch of nutmeg to the cheese sauce for an extra layer of flavor.
