Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup Butter
  • 3/4 cup Sugar
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon Almond Extract
  • 2 1/4 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 8 ounces Cream Cheese
  • 1/2 cup Butter
  • 4 cups Powdered Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • Food Coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  3. Cream softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  6. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Line baking sheets with parchment paper while the dough chills.
  8. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about ¼ inch thick.
  9. Cut out shapes with cookie cutters and transfer to baking sheets.
  10. Sprinkle with toppings if desired before baking.
  11. Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are light golden and centers are soft.
  12. Cool cookies on wire racks before decorating.
