Description
Learn how to make Snoop Dogg’s famous fried chicken recipe. This easy-to-follow guide delivers crispy, juicy chicken with a flavorful coating, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2–3 lbs chicken pieces (legs, thighs, or breasts)
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce (optional)
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (or to taste)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine buttermilk and hot sauce. Add chicken pieces, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight.
- In another bowl, mix flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
- Remove chicken from buttermilk, letting excess drip off. Dredge each piece in the seasoned flour mixture, pressing lightly to coat evenly. Shake off excess flour.
- Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep fryer over medium-high heat to 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully add chicken pieces to the hot oil in batches, avoiding overcrowding. Fry for 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Remove chicken from oil and place on a wire rack or paper towels to drain excess oil. Let rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- For extra crunch, double-dip the chicken in buttermilk and then flour.
- Use a meat thermometer to ensure chicken is cooked through.
- Experiment with different spices in the flour mixture for varied flavors.
- Allow chicken to rest after frying to keep it juicy.
