Description

Enjoy these simple and delicious Sloppy Joe Sliders, a kid-friendly comfort food perfect for parties or weeknight dinners. They feature juicy ground beef in a tangy sauce, topped with melted cheddar cheese and a savory butter glaze on sweet Hawaiian rolls.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 green bell pepper, seeded and diced
  • 1 15-ounce can sloppy joe sauce
  • 6 slices cheddar cheese
  • 12 Hawaiian slider rolls
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add diced green bell pepper to the beef and cook for 3 more minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Stir in the can of sloppy joe sauce. Let everything simmer for another 3 minutes so the flavors combine.
  5. Slice the slider rolls in half horizontally. Place the bottom halves into your prepared baking dish.
  6. Spoon the meat mixture evenly over the rolls, then layer cheddar cheese slices on top.
  7. Place the top halves of the rolls back on.
  8. In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter, garlic powder, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire, and brown sugar. Brush this glaze generously over the tops of the rolls.
  9. Cover with foil and bake for 15 minutes. Then uncover and bake for 5 more minutes until the tops are golden brown.
  10. Let the sliders cool slightly before slicing along the roll lines. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Use shredded cheese if preferred.
  • Add red pepper flakes or hot sauce for a spicy kick.
  • Serve with coleslaw, sweet potato fries, or baked beans.
  • Ground turkey or chicken can be used instead of beef.
  • Swap cheddar for mozzarella or pepper jack cheese.
  • Add jalapeños, pickles, or crispy fried onions for extra texture.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in the oven at 300ºF until warmed through.
  • Assemble sliders up to one day in advance and refrigerate until ready to bake.
  • You can make your own sloppy joe sauce using ketchup, Worcestershire, mustard, garlic powder, and brown sugar.
  • Skip the green pepper or replace it with red pepper, onion, or corn.
