Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • ⅓ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • ½ cup warm brewed coffee
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • Crushed peppermint candies for topping (optional)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Line a loaf pan with parchment or grease well. Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C).
  2. Whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt together.
  3. Whisk sugar, eggs, and oil until smooth. Add sour cream and mix again.
  4. Stir in warm brewed coffee and peppermint extract until combined.
  5. Add dry ingredients to wet, mixing gently until just combined to avoid density.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips evenly throughout the batter.
  7. Pour into loaf pan and bake 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean or with moist crumbs.
  8. Let bread cool completely before icing or adding crushed peppermint.
  9. Drizzle icing on top and sprinkle peppermint candies if desired.
