Indulge in the rich, gooey flavors of Maple Caramel Pecan Sticky Babka – a decadent twist on a classic pastry that’s perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, granulated sugar, and yeast. Add the warm milk, softened butter, and eggs. Mix until a dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, maple syrup, and melted butter to make the maple caramel filling.
- Punch down the dough and roll it out into a large rectangle, about 12×18 inches.
- Spread the maple caramel filling over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border. Sprinkle the chopped pecans over the filling.
- Tightly roll up the dough, starting from the short side, to form a log. Pinch the seam to seal.
- Cut the log into 12 equal pieces. Place the pieces, cut-side up, in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the babka is golden brown.
- Let cool for 10 minutes, then serve warm.
