Description

This Italian Meatloaf with Mozzarella recipe offers a comforting and flavorful twist on a classic. Featuring tender ground beef seasoned with Italian herbs, a tangy spaghetti sauce glaze, and topped with gooey melted mozzarella, it’s a perfect hearty meal for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 ½ lbs lean ground beef (or beef/pork blend)
  • 1 cup chopped yellow onion
  • ¾ cup Italian style bread crumbs
  • ⅓ cup milk
  • ¼ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 Tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 cup spaghetti sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with foil and lightly spray with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, bread crumbs, milk, parmesan, eggs, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder. Mix until just combined.
  3. Spray a loaf pan with nonstick spray and press the meat mixture inside. Flip the loaf pan over onto the foil-lined baking sheet to release the loaf, or shape the mixture by hand into a loaf directly on the sheet.
  4. Bake uncovered for 40 minutes.
  5. Remove from the oven and spread spaghetti sauce evenly over the top and sides. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese generously over the top.
  6. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and the meat is fully cooked through.
  7. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
