Instructions

- Slowly pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients in the saucepan, whisking constantly.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and bubbles. Cook for 1 minute more.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Pour custard into a bowl. Cover with plastic wrap, pressing the wrap directly onto the surface of the custard to prevent a skin from forming. Chill for at least 2 hours.
- To assemble, layer vanilla wafers and sliced bananas in a serving dish.
- Spoon the chilled custard over the layers.
- Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, ending with custard.
- Chill for at least 1 hour before serving.
