- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, beat the buttermilk, 1/2 cup softened butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Stir in the green food coloring, starting with 1 teaspoon and adding more to achieve the desired color.
- Scoop the batter into the prepared muffin cups, filling them about 3/4 full.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cupcakes to cool in the tin for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese and 1/2 cup softened butter until smooth and creamy.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar, beating until the frosting is light and fluffy.
- Frost the cooled cupcakes with the cream cheese frosting and serve.
