Description

Golden Greek Honey Pie (Melopita) is a light, creamy Mediterranean dessert made with fresh cheese, fragrant honey, and warm cinnamon.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound (450g) ricotta cheese or anthotyro (well-drained)
  • 3 large eggs
  • ½ cup (170g) honey (Greek thyme honey recommended)
  • ¼ cup (30g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Zest of 1 lemon (optional)
  • Extra honey for drizzling
  • Ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9-inch round baking dish or pie pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ricotta, eggs, honey, flour, vanilla extract, and lemon zest. Whisk or use a hand mixer until smooth and fully incorporated.
  3. Pour the mixture into the prepared dish and smooth the top with a spatula.
  4. Bake for 35–40 minutes until the top is lightly golden and the center is set but slightly jiggly.
  5. Allow to cool at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1–2 hours for cleaner slices.
  6. Drizzle with extra honey and sprinkle with cinnamon before serving.
