Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 2 teaspoons dried basil
- 1 teaspoon flaky sea salt (Maldon salt)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and yeast. Add warm water and stir until a sticky dough forms. Cover and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or up to 24 hours.
- Gently shape the chilled dough into a ball. Pour olive oil into an 8-inch cake pan and spread it evenly. Place the dough in the pan and cover with plastic wrap. Let sit at room temperature for 2 hours until it expands near the edges of the pan.
- Preheat your oven to 450°F. Remove plastic wrap, drizzle remaining olive oil over the dough, and press your fingers into the dough to create deep dimples. Sprinkle with oregano, basil, and sea salt.
- Bake for 22-25 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Remove from oven and serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- You can customize toppings with herbs, tomatoes, olives, or caramelized onions.
- Ensure the dough is well proofed for the best fluffy texture.
- Store leftover focaccia in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
