Description
These Christmas Slice and Bake Cookies are festive, buttery, and incredibly easy to prepare. With vibrant red, green, and vanilla doughs, these cookies slice beautifully and bake into perfect rounds with crisp edges and soft, tender centers.

- 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups (280g) all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Red gel food coloring
- Green gel food coloring
- Optional: Holiday sprinkles
Instructions
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in egg and vanilla. Whisk flour and salt separately, then add to wet ingredients to form a smooth dough.
- Split dough into three equal portions. Leave one plain. Dye the others red and green with gel food coloring.
- Roll each color into a log or rectangle. Layer, twist, marble, or combine as desired. Roll edges in sprinkles if using.
- Wrap dough logs tightly in plastic wrap and chill for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice chilled dough into 1/4-inch rounds with a sharp knife.
- Place slices on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake 9–11 minutes, until edges are just turning golden.
- Let cookies cool on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.
