A light and airy chocolate mousse recipe featuring whipped cream for an elegant dessert.
Ingredients
- 200g dark chocolate, chopped
- 4 large eggs, separated
- 50g granulated sugar
- 250ml heavy cream, whipped
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Melt the dark chocolate gently over a double boiler or in the microwave. Let it cool slightly.
- In a bowl, whisk the egg yolks with half the sugar until pale and creamy.
- Stir the melted chocolate into the egg yolk mixture until well combined. Add the vanilla extract.
- In a separate clean bowl, whip the egg whites with a pinch of salt until soft peaks form. Gradually add the remaining sugar and continue whipping until stiff, glossy peaks form.
- Gently fold about one-third of the whipped egg whites into the chocolate mixture to lighten it.
- Carefully fold in the remaining whipped egg whites until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Fold in the whipped cream until the mousse has a uniform color and texture.
- Spoon the chocolate mousse into individual serving glasses or a larger bowl.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or until set.
- Serve this delicious chocolate mousse with whipped cream topping.

- Ensure your bowls and whisk for the egg whites are completely clean and dry for best results.
- For a richer flavor, use high-quality dark chocolate.
