- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 (15 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
- Stir in the kidney beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and water.
- Add the chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for at least 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. For a richer flavor, simmer for longer.
- Serve this hot dog chili hot over your favorite hot dogs.
