Description

Enjoy juicy and flavorful chicken koftas made with fresh herbs and warm spices, grilled to perfection and served with a tangy garlic yogurt sauce. This simple, satisfying dish brings bold Middle Eastern flavors to your table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 1 onion, finely chopped or grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for grilling)
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced (for sauce)
  • Pinch of salt (for sauce)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, cumin, coriander, salt, and pepper. Mix well with your hands until fully combined.
  2. With damp hands, shape the mixture into oval-shaped patties (koftas).
  3. Heat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Brush with olive oil.
  4. Cook the chicken kofta for 5–7 minutes per side, or until fully cooked and golden brown.
  5. While the koftas cook, prepare the garlic yogurt sauce by mixing plain yogurt, lemon juice, minced garlic, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
  6. Serve the grilled chicken kofta warm, drizzled with the garlic yogurt sauce or with the sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • For a bit of heat, add red pepper flakes to the chicken kofta mixture.
  • Swap parsley for cilantro or mint for a different herb flavor.
  • Mix in crumbled feta cheese for added richness.
  • For a vegetarian option, use mashed chickpeas and grated vegetables instead of chicken.
  • Add pine nuts or chopped almonds for texture.
  • Store leftover koftas in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Store the garlic yogurt sauce separately in the fridge for up to 3 days.
