Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 or leaner)
- 1/2 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup steak sauce
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 cup beef broth or water (optional)
- 4 burger buns
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 1 tbsp butter (optional, for buns)
- Pickles, lettuce, tomato, crispy onions (optional toppings)
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat. Drain excess fat.
- Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes until softened.
- Stir in ketchup, steak sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes. Add beef broth or water if a looser consistency is desired.
- Butter the burger buns and toast them in a skillet until golden brown, if desired.
- Spoon the cheesy sloppy joe mixture onto the toasted buns. Top each with a slice of cheddar cheese and let it melt slightly. Add your favorite toppings.
