Instructions
Step1: Prepare the Steak
- Place the ribeye steak in the freezer for 30 minutes to make slicing easier.
- Using a sharp knife, thinly slice the steak against the grain.
Step2: Cook the Vegetables
- Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms, sautéing until soft and caramelized. Remove and set aside.
Step3: Cook the Steak
- In the same skillet, add another 1 tbsp olive oil and turn the heat to high.
- Add the sliced steak, seasoning with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally until browned.
Step4: Melt the Cheese
- Reduce heat to low, place slices of Provolone cheese over the steak, and cover for 1 minute until melted.
- If using Cheese Whiz, warm it separately and drizzle over the meat.
Step5: Assemble the Cheesesteak
- Toast the hoagie rolls in the oven or skillet.
- Fill each roll with steak, melted cheese, and sautéed veggies.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
- Use Ribeye Steak – It’s the most tender and flavorful cut.
- Freeze the Meat Before Slicing – This makes it easier to achieve thin slices.
- Caramelize Onions Slowly – This enhances the natural sweetness.
- Use the Right Cheese – Provolone, American, or Cheese Whiz work best.
- Toast the Bread – It keeps the sandwich from getting soggy.
