Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 1 ½ lbs ground beef (or thinly sliced ribeye for an authentic taste)
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 large green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 large red bell pepper, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp paprika
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 4 large eggs, beaten
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Optional Additions
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes (for a spicy kick)
- ½ cup cream cheese (for a creamier texture)
- 1 cup cooked pasta (for a heartier meal)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and set it aside.
In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess grease, then add onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, and garlic. Cook for 5-7 minutes until vegetables are soft.
Stir in salt, black pepper, paprika, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix well to distribute the flavors evenly.
Transfer the beef and veggie mixture into the greased baking dish. In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs and heavy cream, then pour over the meat mixture.
Sprinkle shredded provolone and mozzarella cheese evenly on top. Bake for 25-30 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes, then slice and serve warm.
Notes
1. Choose the Right Meat
For an authentic Philly cheesesteak taste, use thinly sliced ribeye instead of ground beef.
2. Enhance the Creaminess
Adding cream cheese or heavy cream makes this dish extra rich and delicious.
3. Make It Low-Carb or Keto-Friendly
Skip the pasta and use extra eggs and cheese for a low-carb version.
