Ingredients
Main Ingredients:
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika (for color and mild spice)
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
For the Garlic Butter Sauce:
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (or mix of dried oregano and thyme)
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for a spicy kick)
- ½ cup chicken broth (or white wine for extra depth of flavor)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (for brightness)
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Optional Additions:
- ½ cup heavy cream (for a creamy garlic butter sauce)
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan (for extra richness)
Instructions
Pat the chicken dry with paper towels, then season both sides with salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
Heat 1 tablespoon butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and sear for 5-6 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F). Remove from the skillet and set aside.
Reduce heat to medium. In the same skillet, melt the remaining 3 tablespoons butter and add the minced garlic, stirring for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
Pour in chicken broth (or white wine), scraping the bottom of the pan to deglaze. Add Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, and lemon juice, stirring well. Simmer for 2-3 minutes.
Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, spooning the garlic butter sauce over it. Let it simmer for another 3-4 minutes to absorb the flavors.
Sprinkle with fresh parsley and optionally top with grated Parmesan. Serve hot with your favorite side dish!
Notes
- Use fresh garlic for the best flavor—pre-minced jarred garlic won’t give the same aromatic richness.
- For extra tenderness, pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness before cooking.
- Add cream if you prefer a creamy garlic butter sauce for a richer texture.
- Deglaze the pan properly—this adds depth of flavor and prevents burnt bits.
