Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
- 1/4 cup ice water
- 2 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- In a food processor, pulse the flour and salt together. Add the chilled butter cubes and pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add the ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time, and pulse until the dough just begins to hold together.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gather it into a disc. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- On a lightly floured surface, roll the chilled dough into a 12-inch circle, about 1/4-inch thick.
- Arrange the apple slices in a single layer on the dough, leaving a 2-inch border.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the apples.
- In a small bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the cheese and apples.
- Fold the 2-inch dough border over the filling, pleating it as you go and leaving the center exposed.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Allow the galette to cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
